Paul Bolin

Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer

Function in the System

As EMHS’ chief human resources officer, Paul provides comprehensive strategic leadership in all aspects of Human Resources within the system. He guides and oversees Human Resources initiatives throughout the system including recruitment, employee training, leadership development, organizational development, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and employee safety and wellness. Paul also collaborates with governmental, educational, civic, and various business organizations in support of positive employment related policies and initiatives.

The Road to Here

Paul earned both masters of business and bachelors of science degrees from the University of Maine. He began his career in the system as director of Employee Relations then as director of Human Resources at Eastern Maine Medical Center. In 2014, Paul moved to the system office serving as vice president of Human Resources for the organization’s east region, and then rose to his current position of vice president and chief human resources officer in 2016.

Paul is actively involved in Maine communities. He completed the Leadership Maine program in 2006, continues to serve as a board member of several nonprofit organizations, and is past chair of the City of Bangor Planning Board.
 
Paul has nearly three decades of leadership and human resources experience in retail manufacturing and healthcare settings, and holds the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources and SHRM Senior Certified Professional.

Proudest Accomplishments

Paul’s proudest professional accomplishments revolve around the development of people and mentoring them to attain career goals. Whether preparing other Human Resources leaders in Maine in their attainment of professional certification, or working with employees to meet their objectives and the needs of EMHS, his proudest accomplishments are the career advancements of others.  

What he’s trying to do

Prepare for the future, while meeting the demands of today. Paul is focused on the strategic healthcare needs of the communities we serve while ensuring EMHS has the talent needed to meet those needs, when and where Maine needs them.
