Michael P. Donahue, MBA

President, Beacon Health

Mike is responsible for transitioning EMHS to a value-based care delivery and payment model. As the president of Beacon Health and Beacon Rural Health, EMHS’ population health organization, Mike is leading the participation in the Medicare Next Generation and MSSP programs, as well as commercial risk-based contracts. He negotiates risk based arrangements and consumer directed services on behalf of all partners. Mike also serves as a senior vice president for EMHS.

The Road to Here

Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine, and his Masters in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.

With his past experience in budget and reimbursement and physician practice management, Mike began his career at Eastern Maine Medical Center as the administrator of Physician Practices. In 2008, he became vice president of Physician Practices. In this role, he worked to expand EMMC’s physician practices, and grow the medical centers primary and specialty care practices. In February of 2012, he became the EMHS vice president of Network Development and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) activities. He was promoted in October 2015 to EMHS senior vice president and Beacon Health CEO.

Assembling an outstanding team to build the infrastructure required for the Beacon Health high value integrated network. Our Medicare population is receiving the second highest quality among Pioneer ACOs in the country. Our NCQA accredited care coordination program is the first clinically driven program in the nation.
