Daniel B. Coffey

President, The Acadia Hospital

Daniel B. Coffey is president of The Acadia Hospital and a senior vice president for EMHS. Coffey has worked within EMHS in a number of roles, currently serving as executive vice president, treasurer, and chief financial officer.

The Road to Here

Dan arrived at Eastern Maine Medical Center in 1976 and served in positions of increasing responsibility before assuming duties at the system in 1984. Previously, he was assistant administrator and chief financial officer at the (65 bed) Community General Hospital in Fort Fairfield, Maine.

Dan holds a bachelor of science in Business Administration from Husson University in Bangor, Maine and a masters of science degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in healthcare financial management) from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and served that organization as Maine chapter president, chapter liaison representative for New England, and as a member of HFMA's National Board of Directors for two years. He is a member of the Maine Hospital Association Council on Economics and Finance, he also serves on the Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Financial Officers. His EMHS responsibilities included management and oversight of finance, human resources, information technology, internal audit, and compliance.

Dan’s civic involvement includes terms on public and private school boards and he has served on the board of trustees for the All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Good Samaritan Agency, and the YWCA. He developed and taught a course in healthcare financial management at the Husson College Graduate School of Business. Dan is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Husson College and HealthInfoNet, and serves on the Investment Committee for the Bangor Y.
