The 2014 Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network recognizes hospitals for their commitment to being tobacco free
EMHS is pleased to announce that John J. Doyle has accepted the position of vice president of finance and system controller. John replaces Jeffrey Sanford, who transitioned to EMHS Beacon Health as chief financial officer earlier this year. John will join the EMHS family on December 1, 2014.
EMHS Move and Improve was recognized by the Wellness Council of Maine for empowering employees to reach their full potential through wellness. The EMHS program was one out of four recipients statewide to receive the “Empower Award” during the Maine Wellness Leadership Summit held on September 24.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded a $4.05 million cooperative agreement to EMHS under the “Partnerships to Improve Community Health” Program. EMHS will lead a collaborative of eleven Healthy Maine Partnerships and other strategic community partners, serving seven northern Maine counties, in an ambitious three year initiative to improve population health in the region. Their work will reach more than 400,000 people.
Nationally, the healthcare delivery and reimbursement environment is rapidly transforming. To stay ahead of the curve, EMHS must proactively and strategically become more nimble and efficient to provide the best solutions for the health needs of our communities. During the last two years, EMHS member organizations have been working to “reinvent” how we provide care and how our many services and business functions can be redesigned and improved. Thus far, by working together, EMHS members have reviewed and developed new models for Human Resources, Credentialing, Legal Services, and now Information Systems.
